Those of you that have been around for a while may have noticed a new name on the block. We are delighted that Northrop-Grumman have joined us this year as a sponsor and we want to thank them here for their support.
Providing funds for administration of the competition, the company have also kindly offered to support some new prizes this year, and we will be awarding four new £250 prizes. They will also be sponsoring the silver medals, to be awarded at Bletchley Park in February.
Harry is particularly pleased at this new collaboration owing to his unhealthy obsession with the Apollo lunar programme back in the sixties. Northrop-Grumman designed and built the LEM, otherwise known as the lunar module, which took astronauts to and from the lunar surface during the missions, and was responsible for saving the lives of the Apollo 13 crew when the command module suffered an explosion. If you want to experience what it was like to know that those astronauts were fighting to return then Harry thoroughly recommends the Apollo 13 movie. It is a vivid re-enactment of an extraordinary time.
Northrop-Grumman now play an important role in global cyber-security and we are delighted that they have chosen to support us.
