Also Harry should we be focusing on 10.5 much? Thanks!
I think each of the Case Files reveals a little more. I would have thought 10.8 was the most revealing, and understanding it might help to make sense of the others. Harry

This encryption has one name in English and another in French. The French name refers also to a device used to sterilize instruments.1st January 2025 at 5:56 pm #99509Olive-Tree3ParticipantThank you so much everyone for your (very helpful) hints!
Can anyone describe the keyword in a way which Harry will let through? Now it’s confirmed that the keyword is not related to the ford picture, the picture’s for the cipher š
I also know that the keyword is quite long, but there are no hints for the keyword on case files so I was wondering whether it had anything to do with ‘the best laid plans’? Since that’s the only other clue
Thanks again for everyone’s hints! They are really helpful š

7th January 2025 at 10:58 am #99608JISEParticipantI hope Harry allows this post, I have just solved A and i think the type of cipher most people are thinking of is correct but this type of code needs a key as well. However, the original version doesn’t. I hope this helps!
7th January 2025 at 7:48 pm #99614someoneParticipant@Meera the key metaphorically describes ‘the best laid plans…’, and it is not a word that would be spoken casually – when i say very very bad, think large scale events(perhaps some research on ‘large scale and bad could be helpful). Harry since these are the last few days i hope you let this through.
Sure, why not, you’re just trying to help! Harry
7th January 2025 at 7:48 pm #99618-ISEParticipantAnother thing, I found this really useful, if you look in a chat called ’10A; started by ‘Meera’, there is a useful post from ‘Napolean’. I hope Harry allows this!
Obviously feeling generous tonight! Must be all the nice comments people posted in the Thanks thread! Harry
7th January 2025 at 8:17 pm #99619MeeraParticipantHi everyone,
Thx so much for all the help! We actually did solve Part A a couple of days ago!!! š„³š„³š„³š„³š„³ and it definitely wasnāt easy! I had to start everything all over again, because I realised that we had been misled by the wrong cipher! š š šš so all this time we were doing something wrong!
But yh, I tried using some of the hints people gave and I have to give all of my thanks to all of you ( and Harry! ) cuz without u I donāt think I would have been able to get there! I stumbled upon the correct cipher accidentally and had to use trial and error to get the key for it, using āsomeoneāsā helpful definition hint on the best laid plansā¦ we got there eventually! But it was all worth it! THANK YOU SO SO MUCH! We are really glad that we were able to at least solve Part A, but Part B is still pendingā¦.
I donāt think we will solve part B in time, but I would just like to thank Harry, Jodie and the other team behind the scenes for all their incredible work you have put in! This is me and my teamās first time in the cipher challenge and we couldnāt have enjoyed it more! We learnt sooo much and we couldnāt be more grateful! š I am very glad to say that we will DEFINITELY be back next year for a new challenge! ā¤ļø
THANKS ONCE AGAIN TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT HELPED US!! Very appreciated!
Thank you, too! We have a blast doing this, and it is great to know that you enjoy it as well! Harry
