I managed to solve chunks of the text(counting the symbols helped) but the rest is gibberish. Is that supposed to happen or is my program faulty?
15th December 2024 at 11:41 am #99047F6EXB_the_frenchyParticipantWas Orthus (the dog who looks in two directions at once) a hidden clue for 9B?
16th December 2024 at 7:15 am #98970Mrs-RobotParticipantLook at previous deciphered challenges, and see if they give any information as to what method of communication this could , and who it could be from
16th December 2024 at 7:15 am #99012F6EXB_the_frenchyParticipant12936 symbols
12936 = 2^3 * 3 * 7^2 * 11

What to do with all this?16th December 2024 at 7:15 am #99006ABCD1234ParticipantI don’t know if its of any relevance but…
– I realised there are 2156 \s, 2156 /s and 8624 |s
– 8624 is 4 lots of 2156
– this could be a coincidence, on second thought its probably not
– so that tells us that it isn’t a substitution of some sort where variations of the characters mean something but rather teh positioning of the letters and the distance between them could be more importantBUT, I haven’t solved it yet so this is just throwing out wild guesses.
16th December 2024 at 9:00 am #99037FelixQualtroughParticipantHaving solved 9b (but unfortunately not 9a yet), I recommend looking at the case files and doing some research into it. Re-read the casefiles and see if it mentions anything on the device being changeable…
16th December 2024 at 9:00 am #99003Sofia_Dey_ChoudhuryParticipant@G-OATS_2 I hope I’m not giving too much when i say take a look at The Textbook of Registration of Important Figures in Dynamics, an ancient script from goodness knows when. It will perhaps also help to take a look at a normal Rubik’s cube next to you, but if this hint is too confusing please ignore it. Look at it from a broader perspective!!
Having said all this, I actually haven’t figured out what to do after this stage so if anyone has solved it please advise! 😀
I’m looking for a key for the cipher but I can’t think of anything other than the Felix thing or the normal alphabet (and its reversed self)(Also I don’t know what any of this has to do with number theory)

\ Oh no! |
‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾This is a highly obscure, but not entirely unhelpful, clue, though I am not sure if it will help anyone much unless they have already got this far themselves! Still, see what you can make of it. Harry
16th December 2024 at 10:24 am #99051gauldfishgobbler867-queenfalafelParticipantthank you! got it on friday!
16th December 2024 at 10:24 am #99052BobDParticipantNote that there are the same number of / as there are of \.
16th December 2024 at 10:24 am #99056Enchantix_WarriorParticipantYou know how I told you all to not lose hope, still don’t. Albeit, I have still not gotten through it and I am starting to lose hope.
16th December 2024 at 10:27 am #99061F6EXB_the_frenchyParticipantHave you studied how the Cooke and Wheatstone telegraph works and the possible variants?
16th December 2024 at 10:27 am #99062The_BombeParticipantI have started cracking it based on the case file today, and it worked at the start, but then some of the letters did not make sense (only one needle angled in a set of 6 or three angled or two angled the same way), and the letters I can crack seem to be a random sequence of consonants. Does it change after a couple of setences?
16th December 2024 at 11:00 am #99039FelixQualtroughParticipantIn my opinion, once you have worked out the cipher (and maybe done some digging into variations…), it should be pretty easy to solve. LOOK ON THE CASE FILES!
16th December 2024 at 12:00 pm #99027F6EXB_the_frenchyParticipantThe case file is a very good help. After googling, I solved it in less than half an hour..
16th December 2024 at 5:26 pm #99064MeeraParticipantDo you mean something mentioned in 8B case files or the letter in 8B?
Thanks!
