Am I sort of on the right tracks? I haven’t slept in a long time and don’t want to spend time doing the wrong thing!

As in “Dear terrorist cell, we have had a rough night and we are having real trouble breaking into your secure message. We think we might have the right idea, but it would be really helpful if you could tell us if we are doing the right thing. Yours, GCHQ”? Doesn’t seem to be in the spirit of things really!
