Have your own theories about what is going on and want to discuss them? Want to publish your own precis of last year’s story for everyone to read? If so, this is the place to do it.

Hii!!! I’m so excited for the challenges! Also, in the poster why are-

    1. Almost all the “i”s not capitalised when everything else is
    2. The “i” in “NEEDING” capitalised when all the other “i”s are not
    3. The first “A” in “ADA”, the “A” in “WARNE”, the “R” in “WARNE” and the first “B” in “BABBAGE” have a little serif at the top of the letters.
    4. There should be a space between “iT,SHE” and “WARNE,AND” but there isn’t
    5. I feel like there shouldn’t be a space between “SOLVE” and the “…”?

(Some friends pointed out the line on the As and one of the missing spaces so credit to them 😀 )
Are they clues to something in the story?
(Sorry if all the things are just typos and I’m just being some kind of really annoying spell checker)

Anyway the story sounds like it’s going to be great!

Excellent critique of the typography and a keen eye for detail. I think you will do well!
    Welcome to the cipher challenge,

The answer to all your questions is…

This year’s font is called Kon Tiki Aloha.

    You can say mahalo now.

Think I recognise that voice? Harry

    It’s a really nice font!
A cool use, I wouldn’t see that style of font often used for detective-type stories, but it gets pulled off really well here!

Thank you, we like it too! Harry

Well, you might be right, but I don’t think I will be telling anyone that just yet! Jodie

How interesting. The poster mentions Kate Warne…an American. She was known for her role in the
Pinkerton National Detective Agency, and was influential in uncovering the Baltimore Plot
against President Lincoln. As far as I know, she never ventured to England, so perhaps the
silver bullet has some connection to her domestic work?

Great new interface this year. The elves must have been busy.

Thanks, I will pass on your comments! Harry

In the letter, the \ seems a bit suspicious. It is hardly likely anything is coincidental, as when @CodeKitten pointed out some “typos”, Harry never denied it was intentional.

I also seem to have found “traces” or knowledge on the bullet.

Hi, how is the case file related to the challenge? The challenge scores points, but what does the bullet saying ‘LYPGFFFOL’ have to do with the challenge?

Curious, isn’t it? Perhaps it will become clear as the story begins! Harry

Hello! Regarding the bullet, is the code one word or two with a hyphen as it is against the English language to have three letters the same in the row? Or is it a decoding key? Just curious, and so excited!!!

I am enjoying this year’s story already, and I love the reference in week 1 to a certain person’s vendetta against street musicians. I have got nothing against them myself, but I know that this person really didn’t like them, so that’s a lovely historical detail!

I wish I knew more about history in this time period, the setting seems really cool! Would’ve helped with the bullet as well

It’s never too late to learn! Harry
